Streszczenie
Rodzina cirkowirusów (łac. Circoviridae) stanowi różnorodną grupę jednych z najmniejszych wirusów u ludzi oraz zwierząt. W przypadku świń dotychczas wyróżniono 4 typy cirkowirusów, które identyfikowano, kolejno począwszy od lat 70. (PCV1), poprzez lata 90. (PCV3) ubiegłego wieku, natomiast nowe warianty PCV3 i PCV4 odkryto w 2016 i 2019 roku. Cirkowirusy świń występują powszechnie w populacji świń domowych, a stada wolne od jakiegokolwiek kontaktu ze wspomnianą rodziną wirusów stanowią rzadkość.

Abstract
The family of circoviruses (Circoviridae) is a complex group of the smallest viruses in humans and animals. In pigs, four types of circoviruses have been successively identified in the last century, from the 1970s (PCV1) through the 1990s (PCV3), while the new PCV3 and PCV4 variants were discovered in 2016 and 2019, respectively. Porcine circoviruses are common in domestic swine population, whereas herds free from any contact with the virus family are few.
