Streszczenie
Borelioza z Lyme jest chorobą wywoływaną przez krętki należące do grupy Borrelia burgdorferi s.l., których wektorem są kleszcze. Najczęściej stwierdzanym objawem boreliozy jest rumień wędrujący, który może ustąpić samoistnie, pomimo braku podjęcia jakiegokolwiek leczenia. Niekiedy z miejsca ukąszenia kleszcza krętki rozprzestrzeniają się do innych tkanek i narządów, czego efektem jest rozwój ciężkiej wielosystemowej choroby, która może dotyczyć skóry, układu nerwowego, stawów czy serca. W ostatnich latach notuje się zwiększającą się liczbę przypadków choroby z Lyme w wielu krajach.

Abstract
Lyme borreliosis is caused by spirochaetes of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) complex, transmitted by ticks. The most common clinical manifestation is erythema migrans, which may resolve without treatment. In some cases the pathogen can spread from the bite site to other tissues and organs, causing a severe multisystemic disease, involving patient’s skin, nervous system, joints or heart. In recent years, the incidence of borreliosis has increased in many countries.
