Streszczenie
Atopia kotów jest chorobą skóry przebiegającą ze świądem, której przyczyną jest reakcja nadwrażliwości na alergeny środowiskowe. Choroba ta, po raz pierwszy opisana w 1982 roku, jest najczęstszą przyczyną alergii kotów i stanowi 10-12% przypadków chorób skóry. Rozpoznanie atopowego zapalenia skóry można postawić na podstawie wywiadu, badania klinicznego oraz wykluczenia innych chorób alergicznych i chorób skóry przebiegających ze świądem. Alergeny odpowiedzialne za reakcje nadwrażliwości można wykazać za pomocą testów alergicznych in vivo lub poprzez wykrycie swoistych przeciwciał IgE w surowicy krwi.

Abstract
Feline atopy is pruritic skin disease connected with hypersensitivity reaction to environmental allergens. Atopy in cats, first described in 1982, is considered one of the most common causes of allergy in these animals. Common dermatological problems in cats concern about 10 to 12% of all dermatological cases. The diagnosis of atopic dermatitis is established basing on history, physical examination and ruling out other allergy and pruritic skin diseases. Allergens responsible for hypersensitivity reactions are revealed by allergy skin tests in vivo or by detecting allergen specific IgE in the serum.
