Streszczenie
Rekto- i kolonoskopia są badaniami endoskopowym tylnego odcinka przewodu pokarmowego, czyli odbytnicy i okrężnicy. Najczęstszymi wskazaniami do rekto- i kolonoskopii są biegunka z jelita grubego, krew obecna w kale oraz utrudnione oddawanie kału o nieznanej etiologii. U psów i kotów badania te można wykonać przy pomocy endoskopów sztywnych i elastycznych, jednak zbadanie odbytnicy i całej okrężnicy możliwe jest tylko przy pomocy endoskopu elastycznego. Podczas rekto- i kolonoskopii zawsze powinno pobierać się wycinki błony śluzowej do badania histopatologicznego.

Abstract
Recto- and colonoscopy are the endoscopic examination of the lower part of the gastrointestinal tract, i.e. rectum and colon. Common indications for recto-and colonoscopy are large intestine diarrhea, blood in stool and problems with defecation of unknown etiology. The examination in dogs and cats utilizes rigid and flexible endoscopes, although the procedure in rectum and whole colon may only be performed using flexible endoscope. During the examination samples of the intestinal mucosa should be collected for histopathologic examination.
