Streszczenie
Choroba o podłożu autoimmunologicznym charakteryzuje się występowaniem autoprzeciwciał produkowanych przez dany układ przeciwko zdrowym narządom i tkankom. Chociaż przyczyny takich chorób nie są do końca poznane, w rozwoju objawów podkreśla się rolę czynników genetycznych, środowiskowych (ekspozycja na promienie słoneczne), farmakologicznych i infekcyjnych. Występują również predyspozycje rasowe do chorób z autoagresji. Rozpoznanie poszczególnych jednostek chorobowych i postaci choroby opiera się głównie na analizie badania klinicznego oraz na badaniu histopatologicznym.

Abstract
An autoimmune disease is characterized by the presence of autoantibodies produced by the body immune system attacking healthy cells and tissues. The etiology of the disorder is not clear, but genetic, environmental (excessive sun exposure), pharmacologic, and infectious factors may be involved. Breed predispositions to this autoaggressive disease are recognised. The clinical examination and histopathology of the tissue involved are crucial in diagnosing the disease type.
