Streszczenie
Zwyrodnienie śluzowate zastawki dwudzielnej (ang. myxomatous mitral valve disease – MMVD) jest najczęściej występującą nabytą chorobą serca u psów. Schorzenie to prowadzi do niedomykalności zastawki dwudzielnej, której konsekwencją może być rozwój lewokomorowej niewydolności serca. Choroba ta rozpoznawana jest głównie u starszych psów, jednak istnieją rasy predysponowane, u których do rozwoju MMVD może dojść znacznie wcześniej. Artykuł przedstawia najnowsze zalecenia Amerykańskiego Weterynaryjnego Stowarzyszenia Chorób Wewnętrznych (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – ACVIM) dotyczące diagnostyki i leczenia MMVD u psów.

Abstract
Myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) is the most common acquired cardiac disease in dogs. It is characterized by degenerative lesions of the valve, that lead to mitral regurgitation (MR) and eventually left-sided heart failure. The disease is mainly recognized in older, small breed dogs, but some breeds are predisposed and develop degenerative lesions much earlier. The article presents the latest guidelines of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) regarding the diagnosis and treatment of MMVD in dogs.
