Streszczenie
Kardiomiopatia jest terminem określającym chorobę mięśnia sercowego. Najczęściej diagnozowana jest kardiomiopatia przerostowa (HCM, ang. hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). Charakteryzuje ją hipertrofia mięśnia sercowego, która ma podłoże genetyczne. Niestety jest wiele czynników, które mogą wpływać na morfologię i czynność serca, pozorując kardiomiopatię przerostową. Tym samym rozpoznanie HCM u kota staje się dużym wyzwaniem dla lekarza weterynarii.

Abstract
The term cardiomyopathy refers to the disease of the myocardium. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most commonly diagnosed form of the disease, myocardium hypertrophy being of genetic origin. A large number of factors which can influence heart morphology and functions mimicking hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, make the diagnosis of the disease difficult.
