Streszczenie
Idiopatyczne stłuszczenie wątroby występuje u osobników w każdym wieku, niezależnie od rasy. Choroba ta sprawia lekarzom weterynarii kłopoty z diagnostyką i leczeniem, a rokowanie w jej przebiegu jest bardzo ostrożne. Patogeneza pierwotnego stłuszczenia wątroby jest wciąż niejasna. Prawdopodobnie kluczowa jest rola specyficznej gospodarki białkowo-tłuszczowej kotów, gdzie w przebiegu długotrwałego braku łaknienia dochodzi do mobilizacji tłuszczów zmagazynowanych w tkankach obwodowych. W wywiadzie stwierdza się brak apetytu i utratę masy ciała.

Abstract
Felines of any breed and of any age can suffer from idiopatic hepatic lipidosis. Establishing the diagnosis and treating the disease can be problematic, with doubtful prognosis. The pathogenesis of the primary hepatic lipidosis remains unclear. Possible key factors can be protein and fat metabolism specific for felines. In this species prolonged starvation leads to the mobilisation of fat from the peripherial tissues. Lack of appetite and weight loss are reported in anamnesis.
