Zaburzenia równowagi u psów to jedne z najczęstszych objawów w neurologii weterynaryjnej. Pod względem neurologicznym przyczyną mogą być choroby układu przedsionkowego obwodowego, ośrodkowego oraz móżdżku. Dokładne rozpoznanie warunkuje powodzenie terapeutyczne i ma duże znaczenie dla rokowania pacjenta.

Balance problems are one of the most common symptoms observed in veterinary neurology. Neurologically, the cause of the problem can be a disease of the peripheral, central vestibular system - or cerebellar disease. Proper diagnosis warrants therapeutic success and is important for the patients future well-being.

Zaburzenia równowagi u psów są trzecim pod względem występowania zespołem objawów neurologicznych u psów (2, 3, 4). Spektrum objawów jest tak różne, że często zdefiniowanie pochodzenia zaburzeń nastręcza trudności. Dla lekarza weterynarii określenie pochodzenia zaburzeń równowagi u psa jest o tyle ważne, że decyduje o rokowaniu pacjenta w sposób drastyczny – do leczenia lub do eutanazji. Błędy w obu przypadkach są dość problematyczne.
