Streszczenie
Ehrlichia spp. to małe, Gram-ujemne, wewnątrzkomórkowe bakterie. Replikują w cytoplazmie komórek gospodarza, zwłaszcza w monocytach, formując w ich obrębie struktury zwane morulami. Zakażenia na tle tych drobnoustrojów przenoszone są za pośrednictwem kleszczy. Ich głównym wektorem w Europie jest Ixodesricinus. Choroba rozpoznawana jest w oparciu o wyniki badań laboratoryjnych – najczęściej na podstawie wykazania w surowicy zwierząt przeciwciał dla riketsji technikami immunofluorescencji pośredniej (IFA) lub też wykrycia DNA drobnoustrojów we krwi gospodarza techniką PCR, ewentualnie wykazania w preparatach mikroskopowych krwi moruli Ehrlichia w monocytach krwi obwodowej.
