Atopowe zapalenie skóry jest przewlekłą, zapalną i nawrotową chorobą skóry, której podstawowym objawem jest silny świąd. Jest to najczęstsza choroba alergiczna u psów. Chorobę diagnozuje się zwykle między 6. miesiącem a 3. rokiem życia zwierzęcia. Rozpoznanie stawia się na podstawie wywiadu i badania klinicznego. Leczenie opiera się na likwidacji czynników zaostrzających oraz zastosowaniu leczenia ogólnego i miejscowego w celu ograniczenia świądu i wtórnego stanu zapalnego.
