Pojęciem „pododermatitis” określa się zapalenie skóry dalszych odcinków kończyn. Rozpoznanie przyczynowe opiera się na wywiadzie, objawach klinicznych, badaniach dodatkowych, jak zeskrobina, badaniu cytologicznym, badaniu hodowlanym w kierunku bakterii i grzybów, badaniu histopatologicznym skóry, badaniu laboratoryjnym krwi i moczu, testach alergicznych i badaniu radiologicznym. Pododermatitis, jako wieloczynnikowy problem, może być powodowane chorobami alergicznymi, autoimmunologicznymi, metabolicznymi, infekcyjnymi, hormonalnymi, środowiskowymi i nowotworami. Wiodące objawy to: rumień, zgrubienie i obrzęk skóry.

Abstract
Pododermatitis is a term used to describe skin inflammation of the feet and paws. Etiological diagnosis is based on medical history, clinical signs, additional tests including skin scrapings, cytology, bacterial and fungal cultures, biopsies, blood and urine tests, hypoallergenic food trials and radiographs. Pododermatitis has a multifactorial etiology including allergic, immune-mediated, infectious, metabolic, hormonal, environmental and neoplasmatic changes. The main clinical signs of pododermatitis are erythema, edema and thickening of the skin.
