Streszczenie
Alopecia x jest chorobą skóry powodującą powstawanie wyłysień. Mechanizm jej rozwoju nie jest w pełni znany. Typowa jest dla psów określonych ras, takich jak: pomeranian, chow chow, samoyed, siberian husky, szpic wilczy, alaskan malamut, pudel czy bulterier. Rozpoznanie stawiane jest na podstawie kryteriów klinicznych i badań laboratoryjnych, w których istotną rolę odgrywa oznaczanie 17-hydroksyprogesteronu i wyniki histopatologii skóry. Istnieje kilka opcji terapeutycznych, takich jak sterylizacja lub leczenie farmakologiczne z zastosowaniem mitotanu, trilostanu lub melatoniny.

Abstract
Alopecia X is a skin disease characterized by hair loss. The etiology of the disease is not completely recognized. Pomeranian, Chow Chow, Samoyed, Siberian Husky, Keeshond, Alaskan Malamute, Poodle and Bullterrier are the predisposed breeds. A proper diagnosis is based on the clinical symptoms and laboratory findings (17- hydroxyprogesterone serum level and skin histopatology). Therapy includes ovariohisterectomy or pharmacological therapy using mitotane, trilostane or melatonin.
