Streszczenie
Badanie ultrasonograficzne struktur położonych w obrębie szyi może dostarczyć cennych informacji diagnostycznych. Ocenie podlegają takie struktury, jak: węzły chłonne, naczynia i nerwy, ślinianki, gruczoły endokrynne, jak tarczyca i przytarczyce, górne drogi oddechowe, jak krtań, tchawica oraz szyjny odcinek przewodu pokarmowego, czyli przełyk. W artykule przedstawiono techniki badania poszczególnych struktur szyi, prawidłowy obraz ultrasonograficzny, jak i najczęściej występujące patologie. Ostatnia część poświęcona jest ocenie mięśni zarówno szyi, jak i podstawy języka.

Abstract
Ultrasonographic examination of cervical structures may submit valuable diagnostic information. Lymph nodes, blood veins, nerves, salivary glands, endocrine glands, such as thyroid and parathyroid glands, upper airways (larynx, trachea) and the cervical part of the gastrointestinal tract, i.e. esophagus, are assessed during the examination. The paper presents examination techniques of cervical structures, proper ultrasonographic view and common pathologies. The last part of the paper presents the assessment of the cervical and tongue basis muscles.
