Badanie ultrasonograficzne śledziony, będące integralną częścią badania jamy brzusznej, odgrywa szczególną rolę w diagnostyce różnicowej chorób tego narządu. Ultrasonografia pozwala nie tylko na określenie wielkości, położenia, obecności zmian miąższu śledziony, ale również na odróżnienie zmian ogniskowych od rozsianych, jak i litych od jamistych oraz na precyzyjne przeprowadzenie biopsji aspiracyjnej wykrytych zmian.

Abstract
The ultrasound scan of the spleen, an integral part of an overall abdominal examination, plays a special role in the differential diagnosis of the spleen diseases. The ultrasound examination not only allows one to determine the size, location and the presence of parenchymal changes in the spleen, but also to distinguish focal from disseminated and solid from cavernous lesions. As a consequence, a precise execution of fine needle aspiration of the detected lesions is possible.
