Streszczenie
Do klasy IV leków przeciwarytmicznych wg klasyfikacji Vaughana Williamsa należą antagoniści kanałów wapniowych, czyli werapamil i diltiazem. Leki te wykazują ujemne działanie chronotropowe, dromotropowe, inotropowe oraz dodatnie działanie lusitropowe. Diltiazem wykazuje mniejsze działanie inotropowo ujemne niż werapamil, czyniąc go lekiem częściej stosowanym. Do głównych wskazań do użycia leków z tej grupy należą przewlekłe migotanie przedsionków z szybkim rytmem komór oraz kardiomiopatia przerostowa kotów.

Abstract
Class IV Vaughan-Williams classification of antiarrhythmic drugs includes calcium antagonists, like verapamil and diltiazem. These drugs have a negative chronotropic, dromotropic, inotropic effect and a positive lusitropic effect. Diltiazem has a negative inotropic action lower than verapamil, making it a drug more frequently used. One of the main indications for the use of drugs of this group are chronic atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular rhythm and feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
