Streszczenie
Zakażenia układu moczowego (ZUM) występują u ok. 14% psów w ciągu ich życia, w przypadku kotów częstość występowania szacuje się na ok. 1-3%. Wśród ZUM można wyróżnić: niepowikłane zakażenia układu moczowego, powikłane zakażenia układu moczowego, bezobjawową bakteriurię oraz odmiedniczkowe zapalenie nerek (pyelonephritis). Jako leki pierwszego rzutu, szczególnie w leczeniu niepowikłanych ZUM, zalecane są amoksycylina lub amoksycylina z kwasem klawulanowym oraz sulfadiazyna w połączeniu z trimetoprimem. Jako leki drugiego rzutu stosowane są cefalosporyny.

Abstract
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) occur in about 14% of dogs during their lifetime, for cats the prevalence is estimated at approx. 1-3%. Among the UTIs can be distinguished: uncomplicated urinary tract infections, complicated urinary tract infections, asymptomatic bacteriuria and pyelonephritis. As first-line agents, especially in the treatment of uncomplicated UTI, amoxicillin or amoxicillin with clavulanic acid and sulfadiazine in combination with trimethoprim are recommended. Cephalosporins are used as second-line drugs.
