Streszczenie
Giardioza jest jedną z najczęściej obserwowanych inwazji pasożytniczych u psów i kotów w Polsce. Od wielu lat nie maleje liczba publikacji naukowych dotyczących biologii (w tym genetyki) Giardia duodenalis, a lekarze weterynarii mają do dyspozycji coraz to lepsze metody diagnostyczne i wystarczająco skuteczne (jak na razie) preparaty do zwalczania inwazji tego pasożyta. Artykuł zawiera kluczowe dla lekarzy praktyków informacje dotyczące: biologii pasożyta, inwazjologii, diagnostyki i terapii giardiozy u psów i kotów.

Abstract
Giardiasis is one of the most frequently observed parasitic invasions in dogs and cats in Poland. For many years, the topic of biology (including genetics) of Giardia duodenalis, has constantly been brought up in scientific publications. Veterinarians have at their disposal increasingly better diagnostic methods and sufficiently effective (as for now) preparations to control of giardia infections. The paper presents key information essential for practitioners on giardiasis, including parasite biology, invasiology, diagnosis and treatment of the disease in dogs and cats
