U 9-letniego psa rasy shih-tzu z nagłymi objawami silnej ataksji z hipermetrią kończyn i skrzywieniem głowy na lewą stronę, po wykonaniu dodatkowych badań diagnostycznych, postawiono rozpoznanie udaru niedokrwiennego móżdżku. W przypadku odpowiedniego postępowania diagnostycznego udar niedokrwienny jest chorobą wyleczalną i objawy kliniczne powinny stopniowo ustępować w ciągu kilku tygodni. Wykorzystanie w diagnostyce rezonansu magnetycznego umożliwiło określenie charakteru oraz w przybliżeniu czasu trwania powstałej zmiany naczyniowej i ocenę rokowania dla pacjenta.

A 9-year old Shih-tzu dog with sudden ataxia, hypermetric gait and a head tilt to the left, has been diagnosed with acute ischemic cerebellar infarction. With the appropriate medical management and treatment, vascular compromise can be successfully cured and clinical symptoms should gradually improve within the few weeks. Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allowed for determining the character and approximate duration of the lesion and making a proper prognosis.
