Streszczenie
Małoocze i entropium u świnek morskich najczęściej występują razem jako wada wrodzona, która już u bardzo młodego zwierzęcia powoduje ból, dyskomfort i rozwój wrzodów rogówki. Najczęściej takie zmiany można obserwować u osobników z chowu wsobnego, natomiast czynniki toksyczne lub żywieniowe jedynie przyczyniają się do zaawansowania objawów klinicznych. Metodą z wyboru w przypadku korekcji entropium u świnek morskich jest radykalne postępowanie chirurgiczne. Jeśli zwierzę jest w dobrym stanie klinicznym i osiągnęło dojrzałość hodowlaną, nie należy zwlekać z zabiegiem.

Abstract
Microphthalmia and entropion in Guinea pigs usually occur together as a birth defect, causing pain, discomfort and leading to the development of corneal ulcers even in very young animals. Frequently such changes can be observed in inbred strains of animals, while toxic or nutritional factors can only contribute to the severity of clinical symptoms. A treatment of choice in Guinea pigs is a radical surgical method of entropion correction If the animal is in a good clinical condition and has reached sexual maturity the decision about surgery should not be delayed.
