Streszczenie
Wczesne rozpoznanie stanu zagrożenia życia, jakim jest wstrząs hipowolemiczny, ma priorytetowe znaczenie dla wdrożenia skutecznego leczenia. Zaadaptowany z medycyny człowieka, wskaźnik wstrząsowy (ang. shock index) definiowany jest jako stosunek liczby uderzeń serca do wartości ciśnienia skurczowego krwi i stanowi on nową, nieinwazyjną, prostą i tanią metodę klasyfikacji pacjenta na oddziale intensywnej terapii. Niniejszy artykuł omawia wady i zalety wskaźnika wstrząsowego w rozpoznawaniu wstrząsu hipowolemicznego u psów.

Abstract
An early recognition of the hypovolemic shock symptoms is essential in all cases of this potentially life-threatening condition to implement an effective treatment. Shock index has been adapted from human medicine and is defined as heart rate (HR)/systolic blood pressure (SBP). It can be considered as a new, non-invasive, easy and cheap method of triaging patient in the intensive care unit. This article discusses advantages and limitations of shock index in canine hypovolemic shock identification.
