Napady drgawkowe to najczęstsze zaburzenie neurologiczne u zwierząt towarzyszących. Stanowią duże wyzwanie diagnostyczne i terapeutyczne dla lekarzy weterynarii. Przez wiele lat w weterynarii wiedzę czerpano z publikacji dotyczących medycyny człowieka, dlatego podziały oraz zalecenia dotyczące leczenia były niejednorodne. W 2015 roku grupa International Veterinary Epilepsy Task Force (IVETF) opublikowała dokument z nowym podziałem napadów oraz szeregiem zaleceń na temat rozpoznawania i rekomendowanego leczenia. Poniższy artykuł ma na celu zebranie aktualnych informacji na ten temat.

Abstract
Seizures are one of the most common neurological disorders in companion animals but their diagnostics and treatment is challenging. For many years, veterinary knowledge was derived from human medicine publications, therefore the classifications and recommendations for treatment were not unified. In 2015, the International Veterinary Epilepsy Task Force (IVETF) group published a document with a series of recommendations on the diagnosis and treatment. The following article aims at gathering current information in this field.
