Streszczenie
Choroby układu moczowego są dość powszechnie występującym problemem w medycynie weterynaryjnej drobnych ssaków. Jednym z najczęściej wykorzystywanych badań dodatkowych w celu postawienia diagnozy, jest badanie ultrasonograficzne. W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe zagadnienia związane z wykonywaniem takiego badania oraz najważniejsze aspekty budowy anatomicznej i topograficznej górnego, oraz dolnego odcinka układu moczowego u drobnych ssaków. W kolejnych częściach artykułu zostaną przedstawione przebieg badania, prawidłowy obraz ultrasonograficzny oraz najczęstsze schorzenia u wybranych gatunków zwierząt.

Abstract
Urinary system diseases constitute a problem quite commonly occurring in small mammal veterinary medicine. Ultrasound imaging is one of the most often used additional tests, aimed at establishing the diagnosis. The article presents basic issues associated with such test performance, together with the most significant aspects of the anatomic and topographic composition of upper and lower segments of the urinary tract in small mammals. The subsequent parts show the course of examination, proper ultrasound image and most frequent disorders encountered in selected animal species.
