Jaskra jest zespołem chorób oczu prowadzącym do uszkodzenia warstwy zwojowej siatkówki. Istnieje kilka hipotez tłumaczących jej polietiologiczny charakter i złożony przebieg. Współistnienie mechanizmów naczyniowych, neurotoksycznych i mechanicznych powoduje problemy diagnostyczne i terapeutyczne. Jedynie złożone systemy leczenia, oparte na wielopoziomowej ingerencji w patologię jaskry, dają nadzieję na pozytywne długoterminowe wyniki.

Abstract
Glaucoma is a complex of eye diseases, causing the damage of the retinal ganglionic layer. A coexistence of vascular, neurotoxic and mechanical factors triggers diagnostic and therapeutic problems. Only a multilevel complex treatment of glaucoma may provide long-lasting positive effects.
