Streszczenie
Przewlekła niewydolność nerek (PNN) u kotów to choroba, która dotyka 1-4% populacji kotów domowych (3, 25) i jest diagnozowana najczęściej u starszych zwierząt. W praktyce 80% przypadków to zwierzęta powyżej 15. roku życia (25). Pomimo szeregu badań prowadzonych w aspekcie PNN nadal wiele emocji budzi postępowanie dietetyczne w tej chorobie. Od wielu lat naukowcy poszukują najbardziej optymalnych rozwiązań żywieniowych, tak aby jak najdłużej i w komforcie utrzymać zwierzę przy życiu. Niemniej jednak przewlekła niewydolność nerek to najtrudniejsza pod względem żywieniowym choroba, w której borykamy się z pacjentem nieuleczalnie chorym i dietą, której parametry nie współgrają z naturą kota, aczkolwiek pozwalają mu żyć.
