Streszczenie
Rak wrzecionowatokomórkowy u szczurów jest nowotworem rzadkim. Niniejsza praca zawiera opis 26-miesięcznego szczura, samca, z rakiem wrzecionowatokomórkowym umiejscowionym u podstawy ogona. Zmiana przybrała wielkość piłki do tenisa i znacząco obniżyła komfort życia zwierzęcia. Pacjenta leczono objawowo ze względu na to, iż rozmiar i lokalizacja guza uniemożliwiały postępowanie chirurgiczne. Autorka podkreśla przydatność badań histopatologicznych w postawieniu właściwego rozpoznania, a także zaznacza, że jedynie szybkie chirurgiczne usunięcie zmiany nowotworowej daje możliwość pełnego powrotu do zdrowia.

Abstract
Spindle cell carcinoma in rats is a rare kind of tumor. The present paper discusses the case of a 26-months-old male rat with spindle cell carcinoma located at the base of the tail. The tumor, about the size of a tennis ball, significantly reduced the quality of the animal life. Patient was treated conservatively because the size and location of the tumor made a surgical procedure impossible. Author emphasizes the usefulness of histopathological examination in establishing a proper diagnosis and stresses the importance of the fast surgical removal of the tumor, which allows full recovery.
