Atopowe zapalenie skóry (AZS) jest drugą, tuż po atopowym pchlim zapaleniu skóry, najczęstszą przyczyną świądu u psów. Statystyki wykazują, że od 3% do 15% psów w populacji cierpi na AZS (1). W codziennej praktyce bardzo często spotykamy się z tym schorzeniem, dlatego wiemy, jak ważna jest odpowiednia komunikacja z właścicielem chorego zwierzęcia, która jest kluczem do zwiększenia efektywności leczenia. W niniejszym artykule autorzy chcieliby przedstawić sposoby oraz mechanizmy ułatwiające tak trudną rozmowę o nieuleczalnej chorobie zwierzęcia, które pojawiło się w naszym gabinecie na wizycie.

Abstract
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the second most common cause of pruritus in dogs right after atopic flea dermatitis. Statistic shows that between 3 to 15% of dogs in the population suffer from AD (1). In everyday practice, we often encounter this disease, which is why we need proper communication with the owner of a sick animal. This is the key to increase the effectiveness of treatment. In this article, the authors would like to present ways and mechanisms to simplify the difficult conversation about the incurable disease of an animal that appeared in our clinic on the visit.
