Streszczenie
Łagodny przerost prostaty (BPH) to spontaniczne i związane z wiekiem zmiany w strukturze gruczołu opisywane u psów, ludzi i szympansów. Łagodny przerost prostaty u psów to najczęstsze schorzenie prostaty u psów i jeden z ważniejszych problemów pacjentów geriatrycznych. Na tle BPH często rozwijają się inne schorzenia prostaty: ostre i przewlekłe stany zapalne, cysty, ropnie. BPH może towarzyszyć także przepuklina kroczowa.
Artykuł jest prezentacją najnowszych danych związanych z etiopatogenezą, diagnostyką oraz terapią tego
schorzenia.

Abstract
Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a spontaneus, age – depended chan ges in the structure of gland, described in dogs, humans and chimpanzees. Benign prostatic hyperplasia is the most common disease of prostatic gland in dogs and one of the most important problem in geriatric patients. BPH can be connected with other prostatic disorders: prostatic inflamation, prostatic cysts and abscesses. Sometimes BPH is connected with perineal hernia.
This article presents the most recent data about etiopathogenesis, diagnostics and treatment.
