W praktyce lekarsko-weterynaryjnej sterylizacja samic i samców jest jednym z najczęściej przeprowadzanych zabiegów chirurgicznych. Opiekunowie psów i kotów w fundacjach i domach tymczasowych często rozważają przeprowadzanie gonadektomii pediatrycznej u swoich podopiecznych, tak aby była ona wykonana przed rozpoczęciem procedury adopcyjnej. Poniższy artykuł stanowi przegląd literatury dotyczącej wad i zalet przeprowadzenia tego zabiegu.

In veterinary medical practise early-age gonadectomy of males and females in one of the most common performed surgery. The keepers of the dogs and cats in temporary homes and charities often are thinking about pediatric gonadectomy in their pupils, because they want to do this before adoption. This article is literature review on advantages and disadvantages of this surgery.
