Jak radzą sobie mężczyźni, a jak kobiety?
Odnośnie do związku pomiędzy płcią biologiczną a stylami radzenia sobie w sytuacjach stresowych można stwierdzić, że kobiety i mężczyźni lekarze weterynarii nie różnią się stylami radzenia sobie ze stresem w trudnych sytuacjach.
Zgodnie z istniejącymi stereotypami kobiety częściej wybierają styl skoncentrowany na emocjach, natomiast mężczyźni – styl skoncentrowany na zadaniu. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań nie zaobserwowano istotnych różnic między kobietami a mężczyznami. Okazuje się, że zarówno kobiety, jak i mężczyźni lekarze weterynarii radzą sobie bardzo efektywnie w sytuacjach stresowych, gdyż najchętniej stosują styl skoncentrowany na zadaniu. Innym rodzajem strategii jest styl polegający na unikaniu. Różnica rodzajowa istnieje wyłącznie odnośnie do wyboru czynności zastępczych. Otóż kobiety, które unikają rozwiązania danego problemu, najczęściej poszukują wtedy kontaktów towarzyskich, spotykają się, rozmawiają z innymi ludźmi, natomiast mężczyźni w tych trudnych sytuacjach unikają rozwiązania problemu poprzez angażowanie się w zajęcia, które sprawiają im przyjemność i pomagają zapomnieć o zaistniałej stresowej sytuacji.
