Streszczenie
Kwas dokozaheksaenowy (DHA) jest jednym z ważniejszych związków, który w przypadku niedoboru w diecie należy uzupełniać poprzez suplementację. Korzyści płynące ze specyfiki aktywności biologicznej DHA obserwuje się u zwierząt właściwie w każdym wieku. Planując zakres suplementacji, należy uwzględnić pewne potencjalnie niekorzystne efekty mogące jej towarzyszyć. Olej rybi jest obecnie najbardziej rozpowszechnioną formą tego suplementu, ale w preparatach najnowszej generacji z powodzeniem stosowana jest technologia liposomalnej enkapsulacji DHA.

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is considered an important fatty acid, which should be supplemented in case of its deficiency. DHA advantages which result from its biological activity are observed at each stage of an animal’s life. Some potentially adverse effects need to be considered before DHA supplementation. Although fish oil is currently the most common form of DHA administration, the recent generation of supplements uses liposomal encapsulation technology
