Szczenięta
Istnieją szampony delikatne, przeznaczone dla szczeniąt. U ras wymagających specyficznej pielęgnacji preparaty dla szczeniąt są dedykowane specjalnie potrzebom danej szaty.
Skóra wrażliwa
Można zakupić również preparaty dedykowane skórze wrażliwej, hipoalergiczne. W przypadku zdiagnozowania przez lekarza weterynarii jednostki chorobowej dobór preparatów dermatologicznych jest odpowiedni do danego problemu.
Kolor szaty
Można dobrać szampon dedykowany danemu kolorowi włosa. W przypadku dwu- lub trzykolorowych psów powinniśmy zdecydować się na intensyfikację bieli.
Struktura szaty
Wybrać możemy również szampony dedykowane różnej strukturze szaty. Dla długowłosych – obciążające, nadające jedwabistość i połysk, przeznaczone dla np. yorkshire terriera czy shih-tzu. Szorstkowłosych – uwydatniające strukturę szaty szorstkiej. Dla pudli – zwiększające objętość i sprężystość szaty. Dla krótkowłosych – zachowujące naturalny płaszcz lipidowy.
Szampony dedykowane konkretnej strukturze szaty można stosować w celu nadania innej niż dedykowanej struktury. Np. kąpiąc pudla czy bischona w szamponie dla szorstkowłosych, usztywnimy jego włos i nadamy mu objętości.
