Streszczenie
Wielotorbielowate zwyrodnienie nerek (policystowatość nerek, Polycystic Kidney Disease – PKD) jest chorobą autosomalną dominującą bądź recesywną. Charakteryzuje się obecnością wypełnionych płynem, różnych rozmiarów torbieli. Badanie ultrasonograficzne oraz specyficzne testy genetyczne są dobrymi metodami do diagnozowania tej choroby. Badanie ultrasonograficzne powinno być wykonane, gdy kot skończy siódmy miesiąc życia. W diagnostyce PKD przydatne są również: badanie hematologiczne i biochemiczne krwi oraz badanie ogólne moczu wraz z określeniem stosunku białka do kreatyniny w moczu (UPC).

Abstract
Policystic kidney disease (PKD) is a dominant or recessive autosomal disorder, characterized by the presence of cysts that range widely in size and are filled with fluid. Ultrasonography and genetic tests are good methods to diagnose the disease. Ultrasonography should be performed when the cat is 7 months old. Other useful diagnostic methods include: blood hematology and biochemistry tests and urinalysis with urine protein to creatinine ratio (UPC).
