Streszczenie
Badanie wymazów z dróg rodnych suki stanowi podstawowe narzędzie diagnostyczne w rękach lekarza weterynarii. Badanie cytologiczne pozwala m.in. na określenie fazy cyklu, wykrycie zaburzeń hormonalnych i stanów zapalnych czy obliczenie terminu porodu, Badanie bakteriologiczne ze względu na obecność fizjologicznej flory komensalnej budzi wiele kontrowersji, jednak w połączeniu z badaniem ilościowym i antybiogramem może ułatwić prowadzenie terapii, Badanie PCR pozwala na definitywną diagnozę, szczególnie w wypadkach wątpliwych.

Abstract
The examination of smears collected from the reproductive tract of bitches is a fundamental diagnostic tool of veterinary practitioners. Vaginal cytology enables the determination of the estrous cycle phase, diagnosis of hormonal abnormalities and inflammations, as well as determining the parturition day. The bacteriological culture interpretation should be approached with caution, because of the presence of physiological vaginal microflora, but it can be useful when combined with quantitative examination and the antibiotic sensitivity test.
