Streszczenie
Papugi stanowią coraz większą grupę pacjentów placówek weterynaryjnych. Postępowanie diagnostyczne u ptaków wymaga, podobnie jak u ssaków, przeprowadzenia dokładnego badania fizykalnego. W tym celu niezbędne jest poskromienie pacjenta, które ze względu na specyficzną anatomię, fizjologię oraz zachowanie może stanowić wyzwanie dla lekarza weterynarii. Niniejszy artykuł przybliża zasady prawidłowego poskramiania papug.

Abstract
Parrots are increasingly popular patients in veterinary clinics. Like that of mammals, diagnostic evaluation of avian patients requires a thorough physical examination. For this purpose the parrot should be properly restrained. Because of specific anatomy, physiology and behavior the bird may present a serious challenge for veterinarians. The aim of the paper is to show the basic principles of parrot handling and restraint.
