Streszczenie
Leki przeciwarytmiczne klasy II wg klasyfikacji Vaughana Williamsa są powszechnie stosowanymi lekami antyarytmicznymi. Ich głównym i podstawowym mechanizmem działania jest blokada adrenergicznych receptorów β, co hamuje wpływ endogennych katecholamin na współczulny układ nerwowy, skutkując zmniejszeniem częstości rytmu, przewodzenia przedsionkowo-komorowego, kurczliwości, a także zwiększa przepływ wieńcowy poprzez wydłużenie fazy rozkurczu. W medycynie weterynaryjnej najczęściej stosowanymi lekami z tej grupy są: metoprolol, propranolol i atenolol.

Abstract
Antiarrhythmics class II, according to the classification of Vaughan-Williams, are widely used antiarrhythmic drugs. Their primary and basic mechanism of action is receptor β adrenergic blockade, which inhibits the effects of endogenous catecholamines on the sympathetic nervous system, resulting in decreased heart rate, atrioventricular conduction, contractility and increased coronary blood flow by lengthening the diastole phase. In veterinary medicine the most commonly used drugs from this group are metoprolol, propranolol and atenolol.
