Streszczenie
Dostępność insuliny oraz doustnych leków przeciwcukrzycowych do leczenia cukrzycy u pacjentów weterynaryjnych (i nie tylko) sprawiła, że relatywnie niewiele mówi się na temat wykorzystania dietetycznych substancji pochodzenia roślinnego w modyfikacji metabolizmu glukozy u pacjentów cukrzycowych. W praktyce jednak coraz więcej wiadomo o wyciągach roślinnych, związkach fitochemicznych, probiotykach czy prebiotykach, które mogą być zalecane w ich żywieniu. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przegląd najważniejszych substancji dietetycznych mogących przynosić korzystne efekty u pacjentów cukrzycowych.
Abstract
An access to insulin and oral hypoglycaemic drugs in the treatment of diabetes mellitus in veterinary patients resulted in reduced interest in the use of biologically-active substances of plant origin in the nutrition of diabetic patients. However, there is a growing evidence of several plants, phytochemicals, probiotics and prebiotic which could exert beneficial action in such patients. Few of such substances have been reviewed in the present article.
