Streszczenie
Lekarze weterynarii są zaznajomieni z zalecaniem diet terapeutycznych (ang. Veterinary Therapeutic Diets – VDT) w leczeniu przewlekłych stanów chorobowych, ale wiele z tych diet może być stosowanych również u rosnących i dorosłych zwierząt. Na opakowaniach diet weterynaryjnych dostępne są informacje na temat: gęstości energetycznej, profilu składników odżywczych, użytych substancji czynnych. Charakteryzują się także wyższą strawnością i mniejszym zanieczyszczeniem niż karmy bytowe (ang. Over-the-Counter diets – OTC).

Abstract
Veterinary healthcare teams are familiar with recommending veterinary therapeutic diets (VTD) as part of the treatment of chronic diseases. However many of these diets are suitable for young and adult animals. The packages of VTD contain information on caloric and nutrient profiles, may address inflammation with specific nutrients, and have higher digestibility and lower contamination than Over-the-Counter (OTC) diets.
