Streszczenie
Złamania kończyn u koni powstają w przeważającej części w wyniku jednorazowego zdarzenia o dużej sile, które przerywa ciągłość kości, dzieląc ją całkowicie na przynajmniej dwie części. Prognoza w przypadku złamań całkowitych kończyn jest zmienna w zależności od umiejscowienia i charakteru urazu, temperamentu konia, jego wieku oraz wagi, a także operacyjnych możliwości jego zaopatrzenia, jednakże właściwa stabilizacja na czas transportu poprzedzającego interwencję chirurgiczną ma znaczenie krytyczne, jeśli oczekujemy jej pomyślnego rezultatu.

Abstract
Leg fractures in horses are usually a consequence of an accident of large impact which split the bone into at least two fragments. The prognosis may vary, depending on the following factors: part of the bone which has been injured, kind of injury, horse temper, age and weight and type of surgical method that may be used. However a proper stabilization of the leg during transportation is critical for the successful effect.
