Poniższy artykuł jest pierwszym z cyklu czterech, mających na celu pomóc lekarzom weterynarii w przebrnięciu przez zawiłości programu zwalczania wirusowej biegunki bydła w gospodarstwach rodzinnych i dużych fermach. W tej części autorzy koncentrują się na stratach, jakie ponoszą hodowle zakażone przez wirus BVD, na opłacalności przeprowadzania kompleksowego programu kontroli BVD w stadzie. Pokazują także, jak zbadać i ocenić stan epidemiologiczny stada przy użyciu badań serologicznych.

Abstract
The following article is the first of four designed to support veterinarians through the complexity of a bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) control program on family farms and large operations. In this section, the authors focus on the losses associated with BVD which can impact farms and the benefits of a comprehensive BVD control program. They also advise how to examine and assess the epidemiological status of a herd using serological tests.
