Streszczenie
Pierwsze doniesienia dotyczące nowego cirkowirusa, określonego mianem cirkowirusa świń typu 3 (PCV3) pochodzą z roku 2017. Wirus ten został włączony do rodziny Circoviridae obejmującej dwóch innych przedstawicieli, tj. niepatogenny cirkowirus świń typu 1 (PCV1) oraz patogenny cirkowirus świń typu 2 (PCV2). Ten drugi typ cirkowirusa (PCV2) jest odpowiedzialny za wystąpienie szeregu schorzeń, które określa się mianem zespołów chorobowych związanych z cirkowirusem (porcine circovirus associated disease – PCVD). Rzeczywista rola PCV3 w patologii świń jest obecnie przedmiotem licznych badań na całym świecie.

Abstract
The first reports of a new circovirus, referred to as swine circovirus type 3 (PCV3), come from 2017. The pathogen was classified as belonging to the Circoviridae family, already including two other representatives, i.e. the non-pathogenic porcine circovirus type 1 (PCV1) and the porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2). PCV2 is responsible for the occurrence of a number of conditions that are known as porcine circovirus associated disease (PCVD). The actual role of PCV3 in pig pathology is currently the subject of numerous studies around the world.
