Streszczenie
Prace hodowlane nad doskonaleniem użytkowości rozpłodowej u loch wpłynęły na poprawę cech związanych z liczebnością miotu, jest to jednak cecha negatywnie skorelowana z przeżywalnością prosiąt. Aby w pełni wykorzystać potencjał genetyczny loch w zakresie reprodukcji, należy zadbać przede wszystkim o odpowiednie żywienie. Efektywność zapłodnienia i wzrost płodów są zależne m.in. od czynników genetycznych i środowiskowych, a także od kondycji lochy. Liczebne mioty wymagają dodatkowej uwagi ze względu na konkurencję między osobnikami o mleko i paszę. Słabsze zwierzęta wymagają dokarmiania.

Abstract
Genetic work on improving the reproductive performance of sows improved the characteristics related to the size of the litter, which is negatively correlated with piglet survival. In order to fully exploit the sows’ genetic reproductive potential, the sows must be properly fed. The fertilization efficiency and the growth of the fetuses depend, among others, on on genetic and environmental factors as well as the condition of the sow. Large litters require additional attention due to competition between individuals for milk and feed. Weaker animals require additional feeding.
