Płynoterapia bardzo często wpływa na powodzenie leczenia u koni. Odwodnienia, a także zaburzenia stężenia elektrolitów mogą prowadzić do wstrząsu, będącego stanem zagrażającym życiu, dlatego podstawą jest wspomaganie układu krążenia. Istotne są pokrycie zapotrzebowania na płyny i odpowiedni dobór płynu. Artykuł stanowi przegląd dostępnych preparatów. Opisuje także sposób odżywiania pozajelitowego i jego ważną rolę w dostarczaniu energii koniom czasowo niezdolnym do samodzielnego pobierania pokarmu, w ciężkim stanie ogólnym, silnie osłabionym.

Abstract
Fluid therapy very often plays a decisive role in the successful treatment of horses. Dehydratation, as well as electrolyte derangements, leads to life-threatening shock, which is why supporting the cardiovascular system is a fundamental issue. Recovering fluid requirements and choosing proper fluid type is essential. This article is a review of the available choice of fluids. It also describes parenteral nutrition and its significance in supplying energy to horses unable to ingest fodder and of those of weak constitution.
