Streszczenie
Urazy w obrębie rdzenia kręgowego i patologie stawu skroniowo-gnykowego oraz samej kości gnykowej są coraz częściej stwierdzane u koni, co wiąże się z częstszym inwestowaniem w diagnostykę wymienionych okolic wśród właścicieli zwierząt przy prezentowaniu przez nie objawów neurologicznych. Zwiększone nakłady finansowe w opiekę weterynaryjną często wynikają ze wzrostu wartości hodowlanej i użytkowej koni. W zależności od wieku, miejsca i rozległości uszkodzenia objawy kliniczne mogą się kompletnie różnić – od tetraplegii, dużej ataksji i zalegania, do niewielkich deficytów neurologicznych lub braku objawów. Co ciekawe, stopień nasilenia objawów klinicznych nie zawsze odpowiada powadze urazu.
Abstract
Injuries of the spinal cord and pathologies of the temporohyoid joint or hyoid bone have been recently diagnosed more frequently in equine patients. Clinical signs may differ depending on age, place and extensity of injury – from quadriplegia, major ataxia and recumbency to minor neurological deficits or lack of clinical signs. Interestingly, the severity of clinical signs does not always correspond with the seriousness of injury.
