Wzrost oporności bakteryjnej w stadach zwierząt wykorzystywanych do produkcji żywności stanowi na całym świecie ważny problem zdrowotny. Zwierzęta hodowlane, głównie drób i trzoda chlewna, są uważane za rezerwuar opornych patogenów odzwierzęcych. W artykule opisano potencjalne ryzyko, związane ze wzrostem lekooporności bakterii w odpowiedzi na nieprawidłowe stosowanie antybiotyków w leczeniu zwierząt.

Abstract
Increasing bacterial resistance in food animals is an important health problem worldwide. Livestock, mainly poultry and swine, are regarded as the reservoir of resistant zoonotic pathogens. The paper describes a potential risk connected with an increase of the drug resistant bacteria as a consequence of improper use of antibiotics.
