Streszczenie
Podczas wczesnej ciąży u klaczy należy wykluczyć obecność ciąży bliźniaczej. Pierwsze badanie w kierunku źrebności powinno być wykonane około 14-18 dnia od owulacji. Badanie ultrasonograficzne (USG) pozwoli w tym okresie na wykrycie pęcherzyka zarodkowego oraz wykluczenie ciąży bliźniaczej, czyli obecności dwóch pęcherzyków zarodkowych (badanie na obecność ciąży bliźniaczej). Sprawdzenie obu rogów macicy jest bardzo istotne, ponieważ ciąża bliźniacza u koni jest patologią, kończy się zwykle poronieniem i w przypadku stwierdzenia dwóch pęcherzyków zarodkowych lekarz weterynarii podejmuje decyzję dotyczącą możliwości rozwiązania nieprawidłowej ciąży.

Abstract
During an early pregnancy in a mare, the twin pregnancy should be excluded. The first ultrasound (USG) examination should be done about 14-18 days after ovulation. USG technique allows to confirm an embryonic vesicle in uterus and to exclude twin pregnancy, i.e. the presence of two embryonic vesicles in uterus. The both horns should be check for the presence of embryonic vesicle to avoid the twin pregnancy development, which is a risky abnormality in a pregnant mare and leads to abortion. When a twin pregnancy is confirmed, the decision should be made how to terminate this pathological situation.
