Streszczenie
Na farmach trzody chlewnej najczęstsza technika diagnozowania ciąży polega na: rozpoznaniu rui charakteryzującej się okresem tolerancji dla knura, kryciu i badaniu USG doppler między 28. a 45. dniem ciąży. Metoda ta jest precyzyjna, ale ograniczona z racji niemożności rozpoznania ciąży w ciągu dwóch, trzech tygodni po kryciu. USG działa na zasadzie emitowania i odbierania zwrotnego fal dźwiękowych. USG jamy brzusznej umożliwia rozpoznanie ciąży już 21. dnia, stosując częstotliwość 5,0 MHz i 3,5 MHz.

Abstract
On swine farms all over the world, the most common strategy for pregnancy diagnosis in sows and gilts is detection of estrus via boar exposure after breeding followed by use of either amplitude – depth (A – mode) or by Doppler ultrasonography between 28 and 45 day of gestation. This method is used rather with high degree of precision, but its use is limited by the impossibility to characterize pregnancy status within two or three weeks after breeding. RTU utilizes the same rules of emitting and receiving sound waves. Abdominal RTU provides an effective means to diagnose pregnancy in female pigs as early as day 21 of gestation by using both 5,0 MHz and 3,5 MHz sector or linear probe.
