Pierwotniaki Cystoisospora suis (wcześniejsza nazwa: Isospora suis) zostały opisane po raz pierwszy i uznane za czynnik wywołujący biegunkę u prosiąt już w roku 1934 przez Biestera i Murraya (1). Dopiero od lat 70. i 80. XX wieku wraz z rozwojem wielkostadnego chowu świń izosporoza prosiąt stała się istotnym problemem, początkowo w USA, potem w Europie i na innych kontynentach. Artykuł omawia objawy, patogenezę, metody diagnostyki i zwalczania.
