Wraz z rosnącą liczbą badań nasza wiedza na temat epidemiologii, immunologii i patofizjologii zapalenia wymienia jest ogromna. Niestety w dalszym ciągu nie wiemy zbyt wiele na temat jego wpływu na zachowanie oraz szeroko pojęty dobrostan krów.
